Houston Community College has an Associate of Applied Science program for radiology. The two-year program comes with a certificate from the Texas Department of State Health Services. This is very handing when searching for employment. Students at HCC will get experience to be a trained radiographer. Labs and a clinical atmosphere are provided for students. To attend this program, students have to be capable in English and math.
An Applied Science degree is also offered at the Lone Star College System. This also is a two-year program but with two locations. Students will train in a clinical climate while working on their course work in different advancements in radiology procedures. To be in this program, potential students have to pass a background check, go through drug screenings and must pass a physical.
The University of Texas Health Center has two locations located in San Antonio and Houston, but offers a four-year program. In Houston, students will come in contact with various diseases and different equipment in hospitals and medical clinics. There are seven different specialties for post-residency fellowships. Most students finish in a year with time for electives.
The San Antonio location is not much different. Besides being the second largest program in the United States, it is know for its top-notch researching and laboratories. Unlike the Huston location, they have only five specialties for post-residency fellowships.
Just like the University of Texas Health Center, Baylor College of Medicine is in Houston. This school has its own department with a four-year degree. Through the Division of Molecular Imaging, students organize research and train with faculty to continue their education outside the classroom.
Along with the division, Baylor College has a radiology club. The Radiology Club includes many different activities, educational and social, that continues providing students with radiology knowledge.
Students can find what they need in all these schools. Each are creditable and each can give students what they need to find employment after graduation.
